WIPP isolates the nation’s defense-generated transuranic nuclear waste inside a 2,000-foot-thick salt formation.

The WIPP experience exhibit and multimedia show is a virtual tour that takes you 2,150 feet underground into ancient salt deposits left by the Permian Sea before dinosaurs roamed the earth. Open Monday-Thursday 8:30am-3:30pm. Experience hands-on learning and take home a 250-million-year-old salt sample.
